This material, like Leland Blue, is essentially a stabilized waste product. There are websites out there that claim otherwise, but I remain unconvinced. The best story I’ve heard, is that it is accumulated waste from small glass and ceramic enterprises in Mexico. When rough edges were ground off the glasses or glazed pots, the water run off went down a hill, pooling and accumulating below (sounding romantic yet?). As different colors of objects were made, the deposits received a new color layer. A bit of stabilization and voila–How enterprising!
