In November of 2014 Richard and Melanie traveled to Italy where they were invited artists in residence at the Borgo Finocchieto in Buonconvento, a retreat owned by the American Ambassador to Italy, John Phillips. On their month long trip trip they saw great works of art and landscapes in Venice, Siena, Florence and Rome. It was an aesthetic experience that changed their artistic lives in ways which are still unfolding.
